A short Bio

Dr. Etemad is currently a senior technical adviser at Federal Communications Commission and also an adjust faculty at the University of Maryland. Previously he has held leading positions as director of technology standards at Intel Corporation, as an executive technology consultant with Sprint-Nextel and Vice President of Advanced technology and Strategy at WFI.
He has made numerous technical and strategic standards contributions, holds 90+ issued patents in wireless technologies and standards covering 3GPP LTE (Adv.), 5G, HSPA, WiFi, IEEE802.16/WiMAX, and 3GPP2 CDMA2000/EV-DO.
Current research: Advanced Spectrum Sharing, 5G Solutions, Small Cell/HetNet, NR/LTE-WFi Integration, 5G NR-U/LAA, Multi-RAT Multi-Cell Cooperative Communication, Carrier Aggregation, CoMP, D2D/M2M and Local Group Communications.
More than 20 years of experience in advanced technology training in academia and telecom industry. Published 30+ technical papers in 3G/4G wireless communications and signal processing and two technical books on CDMA2000 and WiMAX Evolution.
