A short bio

Saad Z. Asif is a strategist, researcher, and policy expert who has been working in the field of telecommunication for more than 21 years.
He is one of the pioneers that researched and engineered state-of-the-art technologies such as 3G, 4G, Smart Antennas, E-band microwave radios, DWDM, and many more. He played a key role in designing Sprint’s CDMA/EVDO, Jazz’s (VEON’s) WiMAX, Telenor’s 3G/LTE and Transmission strategies and Ministry of IT & Telecom’s 5G Policy. He is currently a Senior Technology and Policy Advisor at 5G-courses.com providing guidance on emerging technologies and policy matters.
He is one of the main authors of GSMA leadership award winning Pakistan’s National Telecommunications Policy. He was also one of the key players in the successful execution of multiple frequency spectrum auctions. He was also instrumental in defending the country’s scarce resource (frequency spectrum) at the ITU World Radiocommunication Conference.
Asif has written three books and numerous peer-reviewed technical papers on telecommunications. He has been granted multiple patents as a co-patentee by the United States Patent & Trade Office. He has also been listed as a scientist in the Productive Scientists of Pakistan directory and he is also a senior member of the IEEE.
Asif earned an MS in electrical engineering from Oklahoma State University and an MS in engineering management from the University of Kansas.
